Can I Ship My DNA Test Kit to Multiple Addresses in Canada?

Need to test participants in different locations? DNA Tests Direct Canada offers split kit shipping for paternity, sibling, and other relationship DNA tests across Canada and internationally. Learn how it works!

One of the most common questions we receive at DNA Tests Direct involves testing scenarios where participants live in different locations. Whether you’re a parent in Vancouver and your child lives in Toronto, or siblings separated by provincial borders, distance shouldn’t be a barrier to accessing the answers DNA testing can provide.

Yes, We Can Split Your DNA Test Kit!

The short answer is yes—we can absolutely ship your DNA test kit components to multiple addresses across Canada or even internationally. This service is available for all our relationship testing options, including paternity, sibling, grandparent, avuncular (aunt/uncle), and cousin tests.

How Split Kit Shipping Works

When you order a DNA test from our Canadian laboratory, each collection component is individually barcoded with a unique identifier. This sophisticated tracking system ensures that regardless of where each sample is collected, they will be correctly matched and tested together once they arrive at our laboratory.

Here’s how the process works:

  1. During checkout, indicate in the “Additional Information” section that you need a split kit
  2. Provide the names and complete addresses for each test participant
  3. Our team will prepare individual packages for each participant
  4. Each participant collects their sample using the provided materials
  5. Samples are returned to our Canadian laboratory using the pre-addressed return envelopes
  6. Once all samples arrive, testing begins and results are typically ready within 1-2 business days

Please note: an additional CA$15 shipping fee will be automatically deducted from your credit card for each additional shipping address Canada. Split kit shipments to international addresses may incur an additional charge.

DIY Alternative: Split the Kit Yourself

If you prefer to manage the distribution yourself, you can choose to have the entire kit shipped to your address and then forward the appropriate collection components to the other participants. This option allows you to avoid the additional shipping fees, though you’ll be responsible for:

  • Correctly dividing the kit components
  • Covering the cost of shipping to the other participants
  • Ensuring all participants understand the collection instructions
  • Making sure all samples are returned to the laboratory

Already Ordered a Kit? No Problem!

If you’ve already ordered a test kit and now realize you need components sent to different addresses, contact our Customer Support Team to arrange for “replacement kits” to be sent to the additional addresses. Additional shipping fees will apply.

Special Considerations for Legal DNA Testing

For those requiring legal DNA tests (for court, immigration, or other official purposes), the process works a bit differently:

  • Separate collection appointments can be arranged for each participant in their respective locations
  • Each participant will visit an approved collection site in their area
  • Collection follows strict chain of custody procedures regardless of location
  • All samples are sent directly from collection sites to our laboratory
  • Results maintain their legal admissibility despite samples being collected at different locations
